"Troubadour is one of the most beloved and always awaited opera titles. Significantly, this is the second opera title to be staged at the Stara Zagora Opera House since its establishment in 1925.
The production is designed with spectacular stage vision and relies on a stellar soloist cast. The director's interpretation evokes large-scale scenes, stunts organically woven into the stage action. The protagonist, Count di Luna is presented as Count Dracula", a "frightening horror tale". Leonora is the only human being in the show, and everyone else is possessed by demons and devils. The costumes are in the style of the late Gothic and specifically Burgundian fashions that are relevant to the work.
The world-renowned tenor Zoran Todorovic, who has lived in Germany for many years, is performing for the third time in a Stara Zagora Opera production, following his roles as Turidu in Mascagni's Village Honour on Tsarevets Hill in Veliko Tarnovo (2017) and Canio in Pagliacci under the dome of the Balkan Circus (2018). Kirill Manolov, who is currently pursuing an impressive international career, is among the favourite soloists of the great conductor Riccardo Muti. Kiril Manolov made his stage debut in Stara Zagora years ago with the role of Count di Luna. In the role of Azucena, Daniela Dyakova, is one of the most preferred mezzo-soprano performers in all Bulgarian theatres and a number of European opera houses. Elena Barumova, the distinguished soloist of the Stara Zagora Opera with an impressive repertoire, a frequent guest of various opera houses in Europe, will be in the role of Leonora.
